Sensory Rooms vs. Restraint for Mental Health Patients

Many of us in helping ministries have escorted a client or parishioner to a psychiatric hospital for an evaluation or possible admittance. My experience has included several times where I witnessed children and adults being physically restrained by staff.

Restraint might not be the first line of intervention in many psychiatric facilities in the future. Read about a new concept of Sensory Rooms, designed to help patients’ sensory modulation and self-regulation.
